Spring is a time of rebirth and cleansing.
Flowers are blooming. Birds are chirping.
All of this new life may have you realizing that your landscaping just isn’t inspiring you anymore.
Here are some ideas to help you breathe new life into your landscaping.
1. Add a focal point
Adding a focal point to your landscaping can be as big or as little of a project as you want it to be. Maybe you’ve always wanted a gazebo in your yard. Or, it could be as simple as adding a vibrantly colored bench, or adding a nice cast iron table and chairs to your patio.
2. Mix up your pots
If all your potted plants are in the same type of container, mix it up! Put red flowers in a green pot and purple flowers in a yellow pot. Clean off your old pots and paint them however you want—this could also be a great craft to do with your kids.
3. Install some edging
If you think your landscaping looks too monotone, install edging between your grass and your shrubs. This diversifies your lawn by introducing new colors and textures.
4. Throw down some mulch
Mulch comes in a variety of colors and textures and creates a stark contrast against your grass. It’s also easy to add to your landscaping and extremely low maintenance.
5. Touch up what’s already there
Repainting a fence, cleaning your pots, and cleaning off your hardscaping may be all you need to perk up your landscaping. Before you decide to make any drastic changes, try touching up the things that are already in your yard. It could make a world of difference.
6. Make your garden functional
Try planting vegetables instead of flowers. Enjoy fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and anything else you want (provided it can grow in your climate) all summer long.
7. Just go crazy
If you love gardening, then just to it! Plant bright, fragrant flowers everywhere. Surround green shrubs with purple, yellow, pink, and blue and watch your yard blossom into a vibrant landscape.
